Akakabuto is the alpha-male in the Ou-mountains. Five years ago, he got his right eye shot by the hunter Takeda Gohei. This incident ruined his nerve system, and he could no longer go in to hibernation.

The damage did not only drive Akakabuto mad; it also made him grow stronger and bigger than any other bear, since the bullet in the brain stimulated his growth.

Soon, Akakabuto began building his stronghold and completely took over the mountain pass, Futago. He then started gathering all the strong bears in the area under his leadership to fight off the army of dogs.
