The first time Arthur sees Virion, he describes him as an old man past his prime, with sharp facial features and a gaze that could kill someone on contact. His hair is pure white and tied in the back and his face is cleanly shaven. In later chapters, his beard has gradually grown longer and his hair has grown more unruly.
