Yumiko Anekawa was a former waitress on Familia Café Terrace under Masahiro Kasukabe who later became a well-known actress of her time and the grandmother of Riho.

When Sachiko Matsushima first arrived in Familia to apply as a cook in 1961, she mistook Anekawa as a doll due to her very cute face. The newly-hired originally wanted to back out but changed her mind eventually. They worked together since then.

However, an incident happened when Masahiro Kasukabe punched Shigehisa Fuwa in an inn after learning from Youko Chihaya that Sachiko was with him. It turns out that she was fooled into agreeing to become his woman in exchange that he would talk to his father to repeal the plan of building an apartment complex to make sure that Familia would not be demolished. The night after, a neighbor rushed to their place to tell Masahiro that Familia is on fire. Katsuyo Tatsuta tries to save the uniforms at least but ended being suffocated inside. She is saved by Masahiro though it cost his right arm in the process. They are forced to close with nothing left from the fire.

Two months later, they parted ways but not before making the promise that all of them will return someday. Sadly, it was never fulfilled.

After her time with Familia, she would later become the famed actress of the Shōwa era. She has a son named Kazuyuki Tsukishima and would have a daughter-in-law from him who was also an actress, but retired eventually. The couple have a daughter named Riho Tsukishima, who inherited her acting skills and somewhat mirrored her fate due to them both working at Familia.

Three years prior, she met Sachiko for the first time in decades where they had a chat and she learned everything about her life and the deception that Fuwa did to her, which she admitted her fault for not reading the contract. Despite paying all the debts with the money that Takao Ono lent her, she still fears what he'll do to Hayato Kasukabe when she dies.

She finally made her appearance to visit her daughter-in-law who just went on a successful operation. There, she got scolded a bit by her son to let him know when she's visiting. She finally met Hayato and affirmed just like the other four grandmothers that he looks a lot like his grandfather. After talking to her family for a bit she turns to Hayato.

Like Sachiko, she fears for him knowing what Fuwa is capable of doing and tells Hayato that if his grandma was alive she'd be upset and tells him to just bow down and endure for a bit longer since he's already old. However, Hayato refuses to yield and vows to protect everything that's important. Upon meeting all five of them he became curious of their past and suddenly asked if something may have happened that forced his grandfather to close Familia, such as a serious right hand injury. She would go on to tell him about their past. Their conversation ended with her warning Hayato that he doesn't know how terrible Fuwa can be.
