She has been experimented on by Dr Ashino with drugs that gave her pyrokinesis. She escapes and is saved by Taki, who initially calls her Chihaya, as she doesn't know her name and Taki's meeting with the original Chihaya had a great impact on him. She later learns that her birth name was Miyuki and thus starts calling herself that. She has a blossoming romance with Taki.
She makes a brief appearance in the anime.
