Which works until a local noble places a bounty on their heads to be then sold into slavery and prostitution. She and her friends are saved by Lugh when he is sent to Milteu for undercover work to train as a merchant under an alias his father had created for him Illig Balor. Illig Balor bought her out of slavery and had her adopted by his merchant family the Balor's to seaver as his right-hand man and run both his cosmetic empire and his information network.
She spends a couple of years being trained as one of Lugh's assassin assistants and is extremely important to Lugh. Overtime she falls in love with Lugh saying "At first we admired you as our great older brother. But as we got older how could we not fall in love with the best guy around." Lugh not wanting to take advantage of her at first turns her down.
Maha is smart and clever but with Lugh's assassin training she becomes strong and agile as well as an excellent acting director of Lugh's growing cosmetics and chocolate empire. She exposes this rule Lugh quietly set for himself about not taking advantage of her and Tarte and remind him that it is encouraged and normal that nobles take on a couple mistresses.
