Musashi Tomoe is the third pilot. He is an extremely hot-blooded young man and controls the Getter machine "Bear" and Getter-3. Musashi is short and fat but also physically very strong as the leader of his prefecture's Judo team who has yet to be defeated in a match. Though he fails the physical and mental tests required to pilot Getter Robo, he makes up for it with hot-blooded spirit and stubbornness, becoming a valued member of the team. Musashi's goofy and clumsy personality forms much of the comic relief in the original series.

His portrayal in the 1970s series is fairly close to the original manga, unlike many of the other characters.
