Hohho-sensei, or Professor Hoot, primarily serves as the teacher of the young characters. As an owl who takes his teaching very seriously, he tends to be stern, and doesn't hesitate to strictly punish any students for misbehaviors. This includes tardies (punished by a peck in the manga, punished by a cheek pull in the anime). Hohho-sensei can be intimidating as well, and doesn't smile often. He's fond of knowledge about the forest, tea, and books, though. He also ends each of his sentences with "hoot."
