Having to live through his strict upbringing, it had shaped her personality to become rather analytical and incredibly critical especially in a cut-throat world she came to know.
She was sent and assigned to the Japan branch and she lives there by by herself. When the pandemic hit, she has lost contact with her American branch and is left to fend for herself. She compiled a list of "100 Things to do to avoid becoming a Zombie"; focused on analysing and researching ways to navigate and survive through the pandemic via her keen observation skills and knowledge gained from zombie movies & media.
She meets Akira for the first time in convenience store while trying to gather supplies. In a calculated move, she manages to save Akira and escape from the convenience store.
Sometime later, whilst escaping with a large group in a bus, she meets up with Akira and Kencho at the Aquarium. Though critical of Akira's random heroic actions, later she was saved by him when attacked by a Zombie Shark.
She meets them again in an RV Expo Hall having a similar idea to Akira, in a turn of events, it gets overrun by zombies and is forced to join Akira in a randomly picked RV. She now travels with them.
Shikuza carries herself with great intelligence and is often strategizing for the crew.
